Bass (b&adot_;s), n.; pl. Bass, and sometimes Basses (b&adot_;sz). [A corruption of barse.] (Zo&ö;l.) 1. An edible, spiny-finned fish, esp. of the genera Roccus, Labrax, and related genera. There are many species.
